Curling

Although Prince George is home to many athletic and sporting groups, perhaps there is none as passionate about their pursuit as the curlers. In a region rich with curling tradition,  Prince George has become curling haven, home to 600 curling members, active in both recreational and competitive leagues and tournaments.

The enthusiasm of the local community has never been as great as in 2000, when Prince George played host to the largest women's tournament in Canada, the Scott Tournament of Hearts Women's National Championship. Prince George welcomed teams from across the country, and the City cheered them on with trademark Northern hospitality. The event would go on to be one of the most successful Scott's in Canada; with world class ice sheets as the canvas for a roller coaster of emotional victories and defeats that thrilled the crowd packed into the arena, and captured large T.V. audiences across the country.

The 2000 Scott would leave a legacy in Prince George, creating a new wave of young curlers enthusiastic for the game, and determined to one day leave their own mark on the national and international stage.

Of course a vibrant community demands the best from their facilities, and once again, Prince George refuses to disappoint. The local curling club offers 8 sheets of perfect ice, change rooms and lockers all attached to a full service lounge, restaurant and viewing area that can support crowds as large as 300. What does this mean for an elite athlete? It means one stop for all your training needs.  It means focusing solely on training, not what traffic will be like between storage, restaurants, hotels and rinks.

Need something a little larger? Prince George has it covered; the CN Centre, with seating capacity for 6,000 and the ability to accommodate 4 sheets of first class competition ice, no matter what your needs Prince George will meet and surpass them, all with the enthusiasm and hospitality that Canadians are famous for.
