Biathlon

As with cross country skiing, biathlon has a strong following in our community and the facilities to support all levels of training.

Indeed Biathlon BC has made a strong commitment to biathlon in Northern B.C., hiring a high performance Norweigan coach, Knut Berland, in 2005 to create a High Performance Centre in Prince George. The arrival of Mr. Berland marks an exciting time for biathlon both in BC and in Prince George, as our city takes another step forward in producing some of Canada's finest athletes. The high performance centre will be closely linked with the University of Northern British Columbia, which is fast becoming the University of choice for those seeking a higher education and an outdoor lifestyle.

Biathlon has a bright future in Prince George with a new high performance coach, links to a beautiful University intent on developing its sports medicine and sport sciences program. Perhaps best of all, athletes are able to take advantage of the first class trail and range system at the Otway Nordic Centre. The range offers 15 lanes (with plans for expansion) and its very own cabin, while the trail sytem offers 30 km of homologated trails, 5 km of lighted trails and another brand new lodge. In all the Otway Nordic Centre is the perfect setting for Biathlon BC's newest high performance centre.
