Prince George is home to a 200-bed regional referral hospital with 24-hour Emergency services, as well as CT-scan and MRI services. The hospital has a full compliment of physicians, including orthopedic surgeons.
Physiotherapty, chiropractor and massage therapy services are available in the community as well, offered by professionals who are skilled in the kind of medical care that athletes may require. Dr. Janet Ames is a sport medicine physician who was the Chief Medical Officer for the Canadian Olympic Team at the 1998 Nagano Olympics.
Prince George is home to the Northern Interior Health Unit and a conveniently located after hours Walk-in medical clinic that offers the services of a physician whenever they are needed. Prince George is also home to Canada's newest Medical Educational Program at the University of Northern BC, offering a postgraduate family medicine residency program under the University of BC.
