Medical Services and Fitness Facilities

Prince George is home to the 200-bed Prince George Regional Hospital with 24-hour Emergency services, as well as CT-scan and MRI services.  The hospital has a full compliment of physicians, including orthopedic surgeons.

Physiotherapy, chiropractor and massage therapy services are available in the community as well, offered by professionals who are skilled in the kind of medical care that athletes may require.  Dr. Janet Ames is a sport medicine physician who was the Chief Medical Officer for the Canadian Olympic Team at the 1998 Nagano Olympics.

Sport Medicine

There are physiotherapy, chiropractor, and message therapy services available in the community. Dr. Janet Ames is a sport medicine physician and was chief Medical Officer for the Canadian Olympic Team at the 1998 Nagano Olympics. Prince George is home to Canada’s newest undergraduate Medical Educational Program at the University of Northern BC. There is also a postgraduate family medicine residency program under the University of BC.

Training & Fitness Facilities

Prince George has many world-class gym and fitness facilities and training experts that can serve the needs of visiting athletes, from individuals to full teams. In addition there are two superb swimming pools, including one with regulation size 50 metre and numerous deep and shallow water training opportunities.
