The University of Northern British Columbia placed fourth among small universities and best in western Canada in the 2005 annual Maclean's ranking of Canadian universities. UNBC recognizes the importance of quality teaching, personal attention, groundbreaking research, and being relevant to the North.
The award-winning Prince George campus is showpiece for wood construction, overlooking the city and foothills of the Rocky Mountains beyond. Construction of the Northern Sport Centre, which will focus on developing athletes, coaches and high performance sport, is expected to be complete in 2007.
